Trump Supreme Court Decision

Trump Can Run: Supreme Court Rules Former President Eligible for Re-election

Former President Donald Trump has received a favorable ruling from the Supreme Court, which has decided that he is eligible to run for president again.

The ruling, which was issued on Monday, March 4, 2024, is a victory for Trump and his supporters. It means that he will be able to seek a second term in office if he so chooses.

The case before the Supreme Court centered on Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution, which states that no person shall hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, if they have previously engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the government.

A group of Colorado voters had argued that Trump should be barred from running for office again because he had incited the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. However, the Supreme Court ruled that Trump's actions did not meet the definition of insurrection or rebellion.

The Court's ruling is a major setback for those who believe that Trump should be held accountable for his role in the Capitol attack. It also clears the way for him to potentially return to the White House in 2024.
